Q. What is the Cardinal Athletics Giving Challenge?
The Cardinal Athletics Giving Challenge offers the opportunity to unlock prize money for your favorite Cardinal teams. It kicks off on November 1 and runs through 11:59 p.m. November 10. The challenge was created to encourage all alumni athletes, parents, and Catholic University community members to join together to make an impact on our teams in the year ahead.
Q. How do I participate?
Visit CUCardsCompete.catholic.edu between November 1 and November 10 and make a gift of any size. This website tracks gifts minute by minute, so you’ll be able to see your gift advance your favorite teams on the leaderboard. Participate by making your gift and then encouraging others to make one, too! You can also call us at 202-319-6710 if you need assistance.
Q. Who can participate?
Everyone. Please make a gift and then help us spread the word!
Q. Will my Cardinal Athletics Giving Challenge gift be tax-deductible?
Yes. Your gift is entirely tax-deductible. You will receive an email receipt acknowledging your gift.
Q. Is there a minimum gift?
There is a $5 minimum donation.
Q. Can I make donations via a mobile device?
Yes! Simply visit CUCardsCompete.catholic.edu.
Q. Where does my gift go?
All gifts go directly to our Cardinal athletes to be used at the discretion of the head coach and athletics director. Whichever team you choose to support, 100% of your gift will benefit that team.
Q. What if I don’t know where to direct my gift?
If you’re passionate about supporting Cardinal athletes in general, but don’t have a specific team in mind, simply give to the Athletics Annual Fund. This fund provides support for all of our varsity athletes at Catholic University. Your gift will still be counted in the overall totals during the Cardinal Athletics Giving Challenge.
Q. How do I help unlock the prize money for my team?
For more details, visit the “Prizes” section. There are two different categories this year and three opportunities to place within each for both the men's and women's teams. This means that up to 12 Cardinal teams could walk away with prize money, or you can help your favorite team sweep both categories!
Q. Can I make a gift by mail or phone?
Yes. However, due to the tight time frame, only gifts made online, by phone, or in response to the Cardinal Athletics Giving Challenge mailing count toward overall totals. If you would like to make a gift by phone, please call 202-319-6518.
Q. What if I already made a gift to the University this fiscal year (since May 1, 2023)?
Thank you for being part of our family of donors! We appreciate your commitment and, if you’re an alumni athlete who has supported athletics, your gift was counted toward our participation category – thank you! You can still make a difference during the challenge by making another gift, large or small, to help your team win.
Q. Is my payment secure?
Absolutely. The Cardinal Athletics Giving Challenge is facilitated by GiveGab, a company that has partnered with Stripe, a PCI Service Provider Level 1 (the most stringent level of certification possible) to process all gifts made through GivingDay.org.
